Bevan Funnell is based in Newhaven, East Sussex, on the south coast of England, and was founded in 1945. Since its beginnings, we’ve  produced hand-finished, premium quality furniture to customers worldwide.

Bevan Funnell is a design-led company that blends the utmost in design, materials, timbers and traditional craftsmanship to produce magnificent furniture. We also pride ourselves on our customer service and on forming strong working relationships with our retail partners.

Our quality

We select only the finest Mahogany for our furniture, characterised by its rich, deep brown colour and the fine figuring and characteristic curls that form the wood grain. The wood is skillfully cut to produce intricate traditional patterns and then treated to stimulate age. Our skilled craftsmen then hand colour each piece with the specially formulated stains that have been developed over the years.

Hand craftsmanship

Polishing and waxing is then applied by hand, with 12 different processes involved in creating the final finish, giving a rich antique patina which is unique to Bevan Funnell and makes the furniture stand out against the mass produced, spray finished furniture so prevalent today. It is the final polishing which reveals the mellow texture and beauty of line in all of the Bevan Funnell collections, capturing the quality and elegance of a bygone era.
